The Dwarves of Mossak Dum

Dwarves are split into two very clear cultures, The Khaldrim, these are the dwarves that live below the surface of Mossak Dum, in holds across the continent and are the ruling power of the realm, and the Surface Dwarves. These dwarves are families and villages that have formed around areas of the surface where there are resources and the like that those in the holds need access to, they are no less respected than The Khaldrim, but are often forgotten in terms of politics.

Khaldrim

The Khaldrim are your classic dwarves, big beards, big bellies and big personalities. They love fighting, drinking and crafting. Mutual respect is a huge part of their culture, an apprentice jeweller is no different to a member of the ruling council. If you want to cause a problem for your fellow dwarves you will be cast out of Mossak Dum and will quickly find yourself on a ship to Elathir where you will live out your days as a smithy in some piddly little backwater village.

The style of these dwarves is the classic tolkien-esque dwarf, art deco decorations, heavy armour, big jewels and gold on everything.

Surface Dwarves

While the Surface dwarves culturally are very similar to the Khaldrim, their skills tend to differ, rather than being crafters and smiths, those on the surface tend towards being lumberjacks, fishermen and other such professions that you would otherwise lack if you lived underground.

As such, the clothing tends to be simpler, less jewellery and less armour. More simple tunics and trousers as well as work tools to go along with your families profession.
