The Pantheon of Misthria
In the world of Misthria, the tales of the gods often intertwine, creating a complex web of shared myths and overlapping claims. Many deities are said to have played a role in the same creation stories, with different cultures attributing the origins of life, magic, and the natural world to their own divine patrons. These conflicting accounts are a source of both wonder and debate, as no single story can be definitively proven true or false. Instead, the diversity of these myths reflects the rich tapestry of belief across Misthria, where each race and culture finds their own truth in the divine, and the gods themselves seem content to let their followers interpret their roles in the grand design.
OC Note
You may notice that specific classes are not listed as worshippers for any of the gods. This is intentional, as all gods in the pantheon can be revered by individuals of any class, depending on their personal background, beliefs, and experiences. Worship in Misthria is not bound by profession but by the character’s values, choices, and connection to the divine.
Minor Deities
This list is not exhaustive but rather a selection of the most widely recognized gods of Misthria. Each race, subrace, and culture holds its own unique beliefs, with many local deities revered in specific regions or communities. The Felton Isles stand apart with their enigmatic and wholly distinct pantheon, rejecting the worship of even the great universal gods like The Eternal Flame and The Wanderer. Little else is known about their deities, shrouding their faith in mystery.
As an example of these minor deities, worshipped for their influence over daily life, among the dwarves of Tharnoc’s Hollow, Jornath, is worshipped by gem cutters and jewellers seeking steady hands and flawless precision in their craft. In the serene gardens of Ash-Rilar, elves offer petals and blooms to Feylira, a minor goddess of floral growth and natural beauty. In the Heartland’s rural villages, families honor Tyshil, a goddess of warmth and home, believed to protect hearth fires and ensure nourishing meals during harsh winters. Deep within the caverns of Mossak Dum, miners whisper prayers to Zarthok, deity of pure underground springs, asking for safe water in the depths.
In the lands of Tyrus, seafarers pay homage to Vixera, a goddess who governs favourable winds and smooth sailing, while in the bustling markets of Virosa, thieves and rogues secretly invoke Ormyl, The Shadow Roost, a raven-like god of stealth and evasion. In the Heartland’s farmlands, farmers leave offerings of seeds and water to Eryla, ensuring fertile soil and healthy harvests. Meanwhile, the Mer tribes of Ash-Rilar revere Mythyr, protector against storms and tempests, lighting bonfires in his name to calm raging skies. These minor deities, though lesser-known, are essential to the lives of their worshippers, embodying the intimate and personal aspects of faith across Misthria.
OC Note
When it comes to minor deities there is no strict rules, they can be created as freely as any character wishes, these are designed to be local deities from villages, communities or even small families, they are no more or less real than any of the other gods and can be as complex or simple as an individual wants them to be.
